Deciding on the right school for your child is not an easy task. There is much to consider to ensure you and your child choose a school that meets your wants, expectations and delivers long-lasting results to ensure your child is armed with the skills that will help them succeed. Below we have compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions, to which we have given answers to help you with your school selection process. No, FOC is a day school and has no boarding facilities.
Which Curriculum do you offer?
We offer all subjects according to each class and we also work with the current schooling curriculums.
What time does school start and close?
The school day begins at 7.00am and ends at 2.30pm for Infant school students, Primary and Junior school on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, then extra classes begin at 2.30pm to 3:15pm. But on Fridays, we close at 2.30pm with no extra classes.
How many breaks do you have on a school day?
Two breaks, one as a normal break and the other as lunch.
Is there a school lunch break, and can students come with their own food?
School canteens are situated on campus, where wards go to take their meal during lunch. A pre-paid cooked meals service is available for students in the morning and during the first break. Students also have the option of bringing in packed lunches to school if authorized by the administration.
How big is the class?
Our classrooms are restricted to not more than 30 students. Every class has an assigned qualified teacher to manage the class, whilst other teachers act as subject teachers to the JHS department.
Where are your teachers from?
In FOC, we are proud to have teachers from worldwide, currently, we have teachers from Ghana.
Are there any extracurricular activities?
Friends Of Christ Basic School has a co-curricular programme which means that non-academic activities are acknowledged as being just as important as classroom learning. Activities and clubs such as Drama Club, Debate club, Football club, Choir and Drumming, Acting club, Science and Technology club and games such as basketball. volleyball, indoor games such as ludo and oware, and many more.
Do you have a uniform and any extra uniform?
Yes, we do have uniforms worn on specific days.
English is not my child's first language. Can we still enroll them?
Sure you can, we have qualified teachers ready to help your ward and make a change.
My child has a disability. Will they still be accepted at the school?
The motto of the school is "A Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed", so we would be glad to have your ward in our school.
